What a special piece of history! This antique, handmade newspaper clippings book was lovingly handcrafted by Susan Mathewson Aldrich in 1898, according to her family. Book is composed of 10 hand inserted, stamped, and embossed envelope "pages" in which to fill with newspaper clippings and other ephemera. This is a one of a kind piece that would make a special gift for a collector. Some wear to fabric and paper consistent with age. ✦ Covered in a beige colored fabric with hand embroidered texts and flower design
✦ Includes 10 envelopes inside to hold various clippings. Envelopes are empty and do not contain any clippings
✦ Each page has a theme: poetry, art, music, society, personal, travels, book notes, humorous, receipts, miscellaneous
✦ Book was purchased at an estate sale and the family included a note inthe book that states "Book made by Susan Mathewson Aldrich 1898" in ink. Underneath that, in pencil are the dates "1859-1936" and "mother of Emily Aldrich Lane"
✦ There is some wear consistent with age- some wear to fabric and paper

✦ Measures about 9.75" x 4.25"

✦ There is an ink mark on the front cover- a thin line of blue ink (from a pen, seemingly) across the E and R in newspaper. See photos for details.
