Vintage Valpin PB Phenobarbital apothecary jar

This vintage Valpin PB apothecary jar is a nice piece of pharmaceutical history! Originally made to hold Valpin PB, a brand name for phenobarbital. Phenobarbital is a barbiturate used to treat a variety of ailments, especially epilepsy. Use this canister in the bathroom or just display it on a shelf. Also makes a great gift for a pharmacist, doctor, or curiosity and oddity collector. In good, vintage condition with some minor imperfections and wear. DESCRIPTION
✦ Vintage Valpin PB apothecary jar.
✦ Made of heavy ceramic.
✦ Likely made in the 50s and used in a drug store of the era.
✦ Marked USA on bottom of jar.
✦ Nicely detailed with gold paint accents.
✦ Lid is the type that just loosely sits on top and does not seal or tightly close.
✦ In good condition with minor wear and imperfections including some heavy crazing all over and minor shallow fleabites on rim.

DETAILS
✦ About 8.5 inches tall (with lid on).

CONDITION
✦ Good, vintage condition with minor wear. Jar is heavily crazed all over. See photo #5 for details.
✦ Rim of jar has some rough spots that may be shallow fleabite chips, or could just be from manufacturing. See photo #6 for details,
✦ Some scratches in design and some gold paint loss. See photos #7 and 8 for details.
✦ Some marks and discoloration in white ceramic.
✦ Some bubbles, rough spots, dents, dings, and pinholes in paint and glaze may also be present as a result of the manufacturing and painting process.
